Priya and Tom: A Weekend Wedding in the Mountains
Priya and Tom turned their wedding into a three-day mountain retreat, giving their closest friends and family an experience they'll never forget.
The Concept
Priya and Tom didn't want a wedding — they wanted an experience. Both avid hikers and nature lovers, they rented an entire mountain lodge in Colorado for a three-day celebration. "We wanted quality time with the people we love, not a four-hour party where you barely talk to anyone," Tom says.
Day One: Welcome and Warmth
Guests arrived Thursday evening to a casual welcome dinner of wood-fired pizzas and local craft beer on the lodge's massive deck. There were lawn games, a bonfire with s'mores, and acoustic guitar. "No agenda, no schedule," Priya says. "Just people getting to know each other."
Day Two: The Main Event
Friday morning, an optional group hike took guests to a stunning overlook. The ceremony was held at sunset on a wildflower meadow behind the lodge. Priya wore a lehenga in deep red and gold, honoring her Indian heritage. Tom wore a classic navy suit with a marigold boutonniere.
The reception featured Indian fusion cuisine — butter chicken sliders, naan pizza, and mango lassi cocktails alongside Tom's favorite: a full barbecue spread. The dance floor was packed until midnight.
Day Three: Recovery and Farewell
Saturday morning was a relaxed brunch with omelets, mimosas, and a lot of happy reminiscing. Some guests went on one more hike; others lounged by the fire with coffee and pastries. "The goodbye brunch was actually one of the best parts," Priya remembers.
The Takeaway
"A wedding weekend lets you actually be present with your people. You're not rushing through a receiving line — you have meals, hikes, and late-night conversations. It costs more, but it was worth every penny."
